Build Blog Day 37 (2/28/20)

Assembly:

CANifier Wiring

We attached the CANifier to the CAN chain. In addition, we ran power to the buck booster which, in turn, allowed us to run power to the CANifier.

Compressor Wiring

The compressor wire running to the PCM was changed from 14 AWG to 16 AWG wire as that is the maximum AWG wire that can be put into the PCM.

Climber Assembly

Today, we assembled three of the four climber assemblies which included taping the tubes with Teflon and filing them down. We plan on attaching these tubes and testing these tubes next build.

Comp Intake

We started assembling the comp intake by sliding the wheels onto their roller tubes. We discovered a few issues in the manufacturing that will have to be fixed. We are also waiting on the intake plates to finish assembling the intake.

Fork Assembly

A group of kids continued to file down the telfon tape. While that was going on, we worked on making the attachments that hold the constant force spring. We finished the day by attaching the fork billet piece to the final stage of the fork tubes. Once that was done, we began to add teflon to the bottom of the fork casing tube on the practice bot.

Programming:

Superstructure/Operator Controls

We implemented the finalized operator controls.

Update laptops

We updated the driver stations to have the latest Limelight and TalonFX firmware.

Manufacturing:

Manual Mill

Today we finished the superstructure tubes that need to be jigged up and prepped for weld

Lathe

Today we finished parts for the ball wall and spares for other subsystems such as the shooter

Router

Today, we manufactured parts for the climber, serializer chock, and began on the feeder base plate which we plan to finish prior to tomorrow’s build.

Field Construction

Today we finished laying the carpet down over the floorboard and finalized design for the goal chutes that are now ready to cut. We just need to finish the design for the hard stops and the field should be all done!
