Blog #32: Robotics Build #36

Robotics Build Blog Day 36 (2/26/20)

Programming:

Superstructure Code

We helped with serializer testing, which determined that we need a chock in order to better. After that, we improved some of the transitions between states and tuned a hood map for 2 point shots.

Auto-Steer

We began writing code for auto steer and will test on Friday.

Limelight

We wrote code to fix the Limelight unit test by using the test camera’s camera matrix, distortion coefficients, and FOV.

Assembly:

CANifier Placement

We decided on a location for the CANifer, which will be on the drive base near the right fork cutout. In addition, we finalized locations for LED mounting: one strip on the bottom of the intake ramp bottom plate and one strip on the horizontal superstructure tube on the non-intake side of the robot.

Redo Compressor Wiring

We redid compressor wiring on the competition robot using 16 AWG wire. We will do the same with practice once that robot is ready for other upgrades and repairs.

Climber Assembly

We tested whether the climber assembly would work with pneumatic cylinders and it did. We attached the pneumatic cylinder from the superstructure to the first stage of the climber assembly. We also started kitting all the parts necessary to build all climber assemblies on Friday. We plan on making three assemblies; one for comp, one for practice, and one spare.

Comp Intake

We finished kitting everything for the intake. We also started assembling it, sliding all the wheels on the rollers. We weren’t able to go any further than that, however, because we needed to make the plates and the bottom roller.

Manufacturing:

We finished making spares for the shooter on the lathe. On the router, we made the shelves for the field and are now only waiting for the mounting hardware. We also sent some parts to anodize and plan to send intake rollers to powder in the coming 2 days.

Web Development

Improved persistent capabilities of the new scouting app and successfully deployed to the android devices.

Field Construction

We laid the floorboard and measured the carpet to later cut and tape on. Besides this, we have begun design on the truss hard stops (which will be made from wood) and the goal chute (material and design TBD)
