Blog #30: Robotics Build #34

Build Blog Day 34 (2/24/20)

Assembly:

Serializer Testing

We repeatedly tested the serializer, finding a few jam scenarios. We are iterating the plate that spans the hanger tubes to unjam.

Intake Testing

We did some more testing of the current intake. We found a failure point, where all five balls jam, and so we changed the intake back plate design to try and remedy it. We will continue to explore other options at the next few builds.

Bumpers

We put in the remaining staples on the inside of the practice bot bumper and hammered them so they sat flush with the inside of the bumper. We then trimmed away the excess sailcloth on the inside of the bumper.

Programming:

Serializer Testing

We wrote code for the new serializer, which includes a pneumatic actuated piece of polycarb to help with feeding. We also aided in testing, and tried to find the optimal oscillation sequence for the spin cycle, but were unable to find something that was perfect with the current setup.

Intake State Machine

We built and tested an intake state machine to ensure that the intake rollers cannot be rolled while the intake is in the process of stowing. In addition, we made it so that the intake automatically runs for a short amount of time after being fully stowed.

Limelight Generalization

We wrote a method and modified some other methods to get the correct Limelight distortion coefficients and undistort maps, distinguishing based on the robot's MAC address (either comp or practice).

Manufacturing

Continued manufacturing for feeder, field, and spare parts for various assemblies.

Web Development

Continued development on the new Scouting app.
